This has been an adventurous year. I feel like the holidays just ended and 2015 just began, but it's near the end and my mind is blown. At the beginning of the year, I sat down to document my goals. Reading them now, I've near accomplished them all. I've solidified my brand and I'm continuing to learn where it is I'm going with my business. I thought I'd share some of the background work that went in to creating our new shop's line!
It may be near winter, but floral of all kinds have a place in my heart year round. I guess I've always been a flower child. Floral, paintings, and simple aesthetics are what took over TLBC's brand redirect.
Everything begins as a sketch or painting. I can fill this sketchbook up pretty quickly with tiny flowers or little woodland creatures. It's my outlet. It's my naptime-to-do. Eventually, those sketches and paintings end up to my computer where I can work on patterns, greeting cards, art prints, and anything else I can come up with. It's been fun to create a cohesive body of work spread over several products.
SO much of my work and products are inspired by the two pair of feet running around my house as I write this post. Aesthetically, even with my wedding stationery, I'd like to think there's a nice balance of feminine versus masculinity. For instance, the Bryan and Kendall wedding suite is a floral wedding invitation balanced out with a wood grain envelope liner. I love the combination of the two. Within my products, the same nature shows through with floral aspects, typography and watercolor, and a whimsical woodland baby stationery line.
In the stationery world, you work 6+ months out. Christmas in July is definitely a retail thing. I'm already excited about summer of 2016, but we won't jump ahead of ourselves! I'm just going to enjoy what's left of this year and breath easy knowing all these goods will make someone's life that much more beautiful!
