CAN I ORDER A SAMPLE?
Of course you can! ...and it's on us. Shoot us an email of a specific suite from the collection and we can send you the suite. It's always nice to touch and feel the paper. We do not send out custom samples, as each project varies drastically. The samples are merely to get an idea of the quality and aesthetics produced with TLBC.
CAN I SEE A PRINTED PROOF BEFORE ORDERING?
No, I'm sorry. Each piece, even from the collection, is customized to your ideal stationery package. But don't worry, once you place an order, there's a series of digital proofing for you to view and approve before finalizing the printing.
WILL THE COLOR ON MY PROOF BE THE EXACT SAME COLOR AS MY PIECE?
Pretty much. Your physical proof's ink age my vary from a fresh printed piece, but will be super close. That's the beauty of letterpress printing. If you'd like an alternate color than the collection's proof's stock color, you may reference a color of your choosing or opt for a custom mixed ink. Custom mixed inks are an additional fee. For commissioned work, your ink color is your oyster.
TIMELINES AND PROOFING
WHEN SHOULD I ORDER WEDDING INVITATIONS?
General etiquette calls for invitations to be mailed out 8-12 weeks prior to your event. Once your final proof is approved, there is a 2-3 week printing turn-around. The customization time prior to the turn-around time will vary depending on whether your are selecting from the semi-custom collection or opting for a full custom design. So working backwards, you'll want to start the stationery journey about 5-6 months before your wedding date.
rule of thumb: It's never too early to get a head start.
WILL I SEE SOME SORT OF PROOF BEFORE THE DESIGN GOES TO PRINT?
Well, absolutely! The series of the digital proofing phase is by far the most important part of the stationery designing process, as all pieces are customized for you. If you are selecting from the collection, you will receive three rounds of complimentary digital proofs to get things exactly how you'd like it. A variation to each digital proof thereafter will result in a $10 fee/revision. Be sure to have at least two other sets of eyes view your proof for spelling and inaccuracies, as most reprints are typically at full price. For commissioned work, the proofing phase is a longer process. I typical create a portfolio of preliminary design(s) based on our inspirations and we critique from there.
WHEN WILL I SEE MY FIRST PROOF?
After placing an order from the collection, your first proof is generally created roughly 14 days from your text submission. For commissioned pieces, your first proof is generally created within 4-6 weeks from your text submissions, sometimes sooner, depending on the complexity of the design.
PRINTING METHODS & PAPER CHOICES
WHAT PRINTING METHODS ARE AVAILABLE?
Letterpress Printing (primary): a hand-fed process that leaves a touchable impression in to your papers
Flat Printing: a full color digital printing process where the artwork is flat to the paper
Watercolor: watercolor is often added as an "extra" embellishment to your piece, either done my hand or digitally rendered from its original version
Depending on the design, one route may be better than the other. I often incorporate watercolor, illustrations, and other types of aesthetics. Specialty printing methods are available for linens and fabrics.
WHAT PAPER OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE?
The entire collection is printed on the house paper, Crane Lettra 110lb, available in bright white, pearl white, and ecru and also comes in a thicker weight. For commissioned work, there is a wider range of paper selections and linens available and is determined by your design.

Commissioned work is designed around a vision board from an initial consultation. Fonts, illustrations, paper choices, and ink colors can be customized to your liking. When working with TLBC for a commissioned project, you are hiring me to entrust your vision and bring it to life.

I would recommend ordering an extra 25 outer envelopes in the case for inaccuracies and calligrapher "mess-ups."

WHAT'S THE HYPE?
WHY SHOULD I INVEST IN YOU?
I was once asked “how do you get excited about paper that will be thrown away?” It was a glass shattering reality actually. To me, stationery is not just paper. Along side your beautiful engagement ring and your glowing face as you try on wedding gowns, the stationery is the title to your wedding, I mean marriage. It should be notarized. The paper tells the story to you and your spouse’s most important day. My ideal clients are wedding enthusiasts and bring as much to the table as I do. By the end of the stationery planning journey, you’ll gain a new red-head friend that you may even get sick of hearing from.
DO YOU ONLY DESIGN WEDDING STATIONERY?
I primarily work with the soon-to-be wed; however, I have plenty of clients that come to me each year for their little one’s birthday party. Often, those clients are the formerly wed! The stationery is as important to me as the event itself is for you.
I would say about half of my clientele is online and the other half local. I have a fascinating way of reading people and their inspirations whether that be over brunch or an email. If you are local, I would love to meet in person. If your home sits far away from South Louisiana and you’re not looking for a road trip, I’d be happy to chat via email.
